Carlos and Maria came to church 5 weeks in a row, Maria
has drunk coffee her whole life so that was tough for her to quit, she was
worried about headaches, but when she found out she couldn’t get baptized then
she was willing to give it up. We had
their wedding yesterday. We found a
lawyer that was willing to help with paperwork etc. for free since she has a
daughter that is a member. She does
whatever she can to help out the missionaries!
But she showed up really late which really stressed us and sent us in to
panic mode! Also Gregerous -Carlos’ dad
was also married at this time and he was thrilled since he was raised catholic
and knew living together was wrong.
Odelia shared a very strong testimony with us … but her
mom is so against the Mormons, so she hasn’t told her she married a Mormon and
got baptized. We found a cousin of hers
and have been teaching her and then found out they are related. Found a couple other friends that loved our
message, but their mom wouldn’t let them come to church. So many prejudices and of course other
churches teach them that if you leave (no more money for them) they will be
struck dead.
There are hundreds of less active people we run into
that were baptized but not converted… I think they join to get help, but then
aren’t active for very long.
We also had 17 investigators come to church and have a
focus of finding families from out mission president, so we have been working
hard on that as well.
Eddie and Rublia have 3 children and as we have had
contact with them, we have helped the kids with their homework. Their one son is in a wheelchair, but
getting him out is tough since they don’t have smooth sidewalks or roads etc…
but a friend gave him a book of Mormon a while ago and he has been reading it…
that doesn’t happen often since a lot can’t read! He wants to know more about it and that has
been super awesome!
Been playing some great soccer here – some of these
other missionaries are amazing players!
One elder was a volleyball player, but he makes a great goalie! It is now getting harder for me to
communicate in English… so that is great I guess!
The church is TRUE… I love it and see the difference it
makes in this world! I feel so sorry for
so many people here that don’t have it in their lives. The gospel makes such a big difference in
peoples lives… if they could just understand that, I know more people would
join and love this true church and what it does for them.
I love you all
Have a great week
Hermana Morris
