"Being a disciple of Jesus Christ is not an effort of once a week or once a day. It is an effort of ONCE AND FOR ALL." President Uchtdorf

So this week was super crazy and fun!! i hope the recordings work and maybe i can do that for the blog, cause i feel like that is a lot easier to do than try to fit everything in the hour that we have and so i hope it works!!!  The highlight this week was by far going to the temple!!
I have been praying about being here, and feeling like I’m not making much of a difference, with only one baptism.. and wondering if I am doing anything right, I have been just praying for comfort for the work i am doing, and i got a blessing from the bishop this week, and he said that the lord is content with my work, and he is proud of me, and i don’t know all the people that i am preparing to accept the gospel later on, and it was just so dang cool!! i loved it!! The priesthood is the best!!
From Josie’s recording:  I’m in Jalapa now and it is not like the capitol, this area is much more what I thought Guatemala would look like, and everywhere we go looks the same so we get lost a lot.  People will listen to us, but most don’t seem willing to come to church, make any changes, or go to a church that is out of their neighborhood.  They just want to keep going to the one they have always gone to and think that the church doesn’t matter that they attend.  No one seems to want to do what it takes to find out that we are bringing them the truth.
I am not missing the pollution that was in the capitol.  But I do miss some of the amazing members I was able to work with in my last area.  I love my new companion Hermana Madrano from Honduras and was with her in the three-some before for about a week.  I was laughing at her trying to pack all of her stuff into her 2 bags, and then it was karma when I was trying to get all my “Stuff” shoved into 2 bags to head out and join her on my transfer!
We don’t have any investigators right now, so we are walking a lot and doing lots of service!  We actually have a washer here, then hang out our clothes to dry.  We pay a lady to fix us breakfast and lunch and then members feed us dinner often.  If someone feeding us walks out of the room, I pile my beans onto my comps plate and she is nice and eats them for me… I haven’t grown to love them yet…
I play the piano for church because the bishop thinks all white people can play (or should- he probably regrets asking me)…so I wish I would have practiced more! Thanks for all of the messages and pictures and packages and love and support!  I love you all!!!

"As individuals we are STRONG... Together with God, we are unstoppable!" Rosemary M. Wixom

So i recorded a ton of messages, and planned on sending them to you from the phone.. only i can't get it to work... and have wasted a ton of time doing that this week instead of writting an email.. oops.. sorry about that!! but one thing i have come to love as being a missionary, is that being a member, it doesn't matter where you are in the world, you have a  family through the other members, cause we all know the things that are important, and the things that don't matter in life!!
The things i have come to appreciate most are friends, and family!! They are the most important, and the gospel of course which brings things into proper perspective!    So never let a moment go by without thanking our Heavenly Father for all of the blessings we have!!
Like Harry Potter says about Voltimort (Satan)  we have one important thing that he doesn't have, (well other than pure joy... physical bodies and such) it is family and friends.. and that is why he is so miserable!!!   So we are incredibly lucky that through this plan, we can have them forever!!! wahoo!!
Love you all!!

"The time will come when only those who believe deeply and actively in the family will be able to preserve their families in the midst of the gathering evil around us." Pres. Kimball

What up everyone!?!   funny story.... this last week we had a reunion with other sisters from our mission, and when we were there, there was a Hermana from Utah, and she plays soccer as well, and is a blonde canchita, so we make two--funny part is that she was like, "sister Morris, I have a confession to make," and i was like, what the flip, I just met you today… what are you going to say!?!? She said "when i was still at home, i found the Facebook page that is something like missionary moms for Guatemala, and she said that i was the only one that she found from this mission, so she started to stalk me, and found my blog spot, and after that she would get on every Monday to read what was new, haha!!! Super funny!!!!! It was really awesome…so we took a picture together, and i guess she is also really good at food contests and won like a hot dog eating contest…funny!! So yeah, this reunion was at a chapel, that neither my comp, nor i, or the other sisters knew how to get there, and i had only been there one time, so i was like, no problem, lets go, and we got really lost, listening to the other sisters, cause i was like its this way, and then the three of them said is was another way, and we ended up back tracking and eventually i got us there, which i was really impressed that I remembered how to get there!!!
This week we have changes!!! ahh!!! super sad!!! i will be leaving my very first area (after almost 7 months) which is super crazy!! It is sad to be leaving my family here, but I am excited to get to know more people!!! wahoo!!!! This area was awesome, and my comp is going to be training—sweet!!!!   She is super awesome, and has by far been one of my best comps!!!! Tied with the awesome Hermana Lopez from California!!  I am sad to say bye.... but that is the mission....many goodbyes...
I hope you all had a great week!! We have been reading about the attributes of Christ, and focusing on trying to develop all of those attributes, and it has really helped me to know more about my savior, and to try to be more like him!! Our savior lives, he loves us, and he wants what is best for us all!!! Just as our parents tell us things to do, and things to not do that will harm us, he has given us commandments that will help us be happy in life, and so many people these days try to say that there are some less important, but they are all super important, and every law has its purpose!! Live each one with exactitude!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEATON!!!! and Aunt Lori last week. And happy one year home -mark Kayla! And WELCOME HOME JENI!  I can not wait to hear about your mission to Italy!!
Love you all and hope you have a fantastic week.
