"To be a Christian is to admire Jesus so sincerely and so fervently that the whole life goes out to him in an aspiration to be like him" Charles Edward Jefferson

Hey everyone!!! how was your week!? this week fleeeww by!!! i cant believe it’s already Monday again!!! hah!! I really wish at this point that I had brought more clothes, umbrellas, and shoes for the rain because it POURS every single day!!! no joke the streets flood and there are rivers going down them and we have to walk through that!! It’s pretty gross when something brushes up against your leg and you look down and see poop floating there but that is life!! i try not to think of what is in the water we are walking in, since you see men and dogs leave nice surprises for you!! gross!!! but yeah, the buses drive by and send water flying so it’s a race to see who can dash from one safe spot to the other without getting soaked and the people riding the buses seem to enjoy that very much!!! they just laugh at us as Hermana Hernández screams when the cold water hits us and at these points, you might as well just jump cause you don’t really stand a chance of staying dry with how far we have to follow this Street!! struggle!!! but it’s fun!!
This week we've been getting excited about conference. Saturday for the general womens session they only had it in Spanish so me and Hermana Jones were pretty lost- hopefully we can find it in English!!! On Saturday we went house shopping all day because they are splitting our area and adding a new set of elders so we had one day to find a house for them! what!? Eventually we found something that will work, but it's at the top of three flights of stairs, and one of them is a spiral small staircase so good luck to the new elders getting their stuff up there, let alone the beds they need!!! The spanish is coming along!! it feels like I’m progressing soooo slow, but then when i look back at the week, i am surprised with how much i have learned and grown!!! It’s also really weird to try and talk about the gospel in English and when we find people who want to talk in English with me, i share it in english, i can barely get it out though!! It’s pretty bad!! but hopefully that is a good sign!! i also love love love learning about the atonement and the great gift that the savior has given us!! What a great opportunity we have to be forgiven of all of our sins and become perfected in him!!! It’s incredible how much he loves each and every one of us!!! so this week is changes and a lot of the missionaries that I’ve gotten pretty close with are leaving tomorrow so that is pretty sad!!! So can i just say that i am soooo grateful for awesome members that love to help out the missionaries!!!! we have this older couple in our Ward that make us pancakes, and allow us to use there home for lessons, contacts, and family home evening messages with new converts, investigators, or others and they are just the best! i love the Alfaro’s!!! We played some soccer last Monday as a zone and we played Norte’s (americans) vs. Latinos so we could speak English and they had no idea what was going on! We gave them Nicknames like Daisy and galaxy and it was just tons of fun!! haha!! i love playing socer!!! Some of the elders (key Word some, as in 2) are really really good so it’s fun to play with them!!
i tried my first cow tongue this week and of course they had me eat it before they told me what it was—for good reason!!! But, it was actually surprisingly good and i ended up eating the rest of it!! hah!! but yeah, its always an adventure –the food that i find here!"!!  Life has been awesome and its crazy to see how many people are soooo ready for the gospel!! even if they don’t know it –what a great blessing it is to have it in our lives!! My challenge to you for the week: invite a friend or a stranger to meet with the full time missionaries and help them find this great happiness we have!! It is such a blessing and so many of us take it for granted!!! I looooove getting letters and would love to get some from all of you if you just want to send them!!! for reals, getting letters is the best!!! wow!! sorry for the awful spelling!! with learning Spanish, i cant spell in either languages these days so forgive me—it throws me off pretty hard core when people talk to me in English because i always try to respond in Spanish and it ends up being spanglish!!! ha!! good times!! love you all and hope you all have super duper fantastic weeks!!!!!

"In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God and Christ Jesus concerning you." 1 Thes. 5:18

Como estan!?!  How’s life in the great states!?! i hope you are all doing great and loving school and work and such!! This month our mission president has been having us study the atonement of Jesus Christ and it has been incredible!!! What a great gift this is for each one of us individually and as i continue to study, the depth of my love for the savior and his sacrifice grows and my love for others as well!! Each one of us is a loved child of God and because of that, he sent his beloved son to atone for us.  To suffer alone, to bleed from every pore and to do it for us. Wow!  How incredible this gospel is!! How blessed we are to have it in our lives!! i am so grateful for this!!!  A cool miracle we saw this week. sooo we've been praying for the blessing of people letting us into their houses to teach them because we make so many contacts and receive references and show up, but they never let us in because of some excuse that they have at the time. So we've been praying that people will let us in more, and then bam!!! It POURED and i mean POURED every single day this week!! We got soaked—At first i thought of it as a trial, making it even harder for us, until i looked back and realized that a ton of people this week let us in only because we were soaked missionaries on their porch, begging for them to let us in out of the rain!! what a miracle –tons of people were sympathetic to us and let us in and we were able to share quick messages with them to hopefully strengthen their families and help them find the restored gospel of Jesus Christ!!  Another cool challenge we had was to try and mention the atonement in every single contact, because that's a huge part of this gospel!  My challenge for the week— read up on the atonement and you will appreciate this gospel so much more!! i love you all and hope you have a great week!!

By the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things. Moroni 10:5

Another week in Guatemala!!! Its been raining like super crazy here so i rotate between my 4 shoes, wear one pair, get them soaked, set them to dry and then use them again in 4 days, still damp, and walk through more puddles!! in fact, we go into some peoples homes for lessons and then go to leave, and its been pouring rain while we were inside so they now have a lake between their house, and the Street that we wade through!! crazy!! Its super insane how much rain can come down in just a few minutes!!! like the streets are rivers and we try not to get soaked as the buses drive by and send wáter flying!!! Its super funny because my comp screams every time!!... as if it wasn’t expected!!! So this week we attended a baptism of another group of missionaries and the spirit there was so strong!!! i loved it!! Also we took some investigators and they loved it as well so i am grateful that they were able to attend!!! Guatemala is great, and I’m eating the beans.. even if i don’t love them... a miracle we saw this week, when teaching a lesson to an investigator, her brother showed up and at the end of the lesson said that we was a Mormon but hadn’t attended for a couple of years and now wanted to go back to church!!! crazy!!! The spirit was soooo strong!! i love this work and i know the church is true!! i hope you all have a fantastic week!!!
